Vancouver is graced with it's proximity to the ocean and the mountains, making it the perfect destination for any season. If you're heading to Vancouver this winter, you head to the hills to ski and snowboard on fresh powder or you can escape to the Scandinave Spa in Whistler for a relaxing retreat.
With wintertime also come the holidays. What's not to love about warm mulled wine, snow-sprinkled streets, and holiday cheer? Top off your winter getaway with these upcoming festivals that will surely get you into the holiday spirit.
Aurora Winter Festival
From November 22-January 5, Hastings Park/PNE transforms into a magical winter wonderland. The Aurora Winter Festival returns for its second year, expanding its attractions and programming, as well as moving from Concord Pacific Plaza to the PNE due to an overwhelming number of guests at last year's exhibit. Guests will walk through a wintery village complete with a skating rink, tube park, massive light displays, a market with 40 holiday-themed vendors, amusement rides, food gardens, magical characters, and many exciting activities.
This year's highly anticipated festival is expected to be the event of the winter. Tickets range from $12.99-$17.99 and are expected to see an increase in sales than in the previous year. Be sure to visit this winter fairytale wonderland and get your ticket today!
Candytown - A Yaletown Holiday Festival
The 7th Annual free Candytown festival returns to the streets of Yaletown for another year. This annual event is Downtown Vancouver's only free outdoor winter festival, drawing crowds of up to 15,000 people to Mainland street to enjoy scenes of beautifully-decorated cobblestone streets, artisans selling holiday crafts, and live performances from local artists. While the holidays can be an expensive affair, mark your calendar for one event that won't drag you under.
Vancouver Christmas Market
Don't miss one of the most popular events of the winter season—the Vancouver Christmas Market! The annual market transforms the Concord Pacific Plaza into a Christkindlmarkts, a traditional German Christmas market featuring delicious food and local artisans. The Vancouver adaptation of this event draws inspiration from old-world traditions and invites guests to savour authentic European delicacies and treats, German and Austrian beer, and mulled wine.
As well, guests can enjoy a wonderful lineup of live entertainment, activities for kids, and shops full of unique artisan gifts. To avoid lengthy queues, buy your ticket online.
After a full day of winter activities, get cozied up at the Best Western Vancouver, only a short distance from all of these exciting festivals and events. Tuck yourself into a comfortable bed with high-class service at an unbeatable price. Make your Vancouver winter a memorable one and book your stay today!
